Under the theme "Nurturing AI Talent with Future Unicorn Companies," more than 100 Korean and Japanese university students and faculty members participated in the event, where they collaborated with future unicorn companies to experience the latest AI technologies and share their research achievements.
The event, held on August 25 at MaumAI in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, provided real-time communication support between Korean and Japanese through MaumAI's simultaneous interpretation solution, "LINK."
Participating students experienced a variety of physical AI technologies, including the AI-based quadruped security robot dog "SORA," a barrier-free kiosk accessible to people with hearing, visual, or physical disabilities, and a robot barista that prepares espresso. This was followed by research presentations from 15 teams of Korean and Japanese university students.
In the special lecture session, Byunghee Son, Director of MaumAI Research Institute, delivered a lecture on "Physical AI and Social Value," while Professor Liang Li of Ritsumeikan University spoke on "Rediscovering World Cultural Heritage through AI."
Additionally, the event featured an introduction to the future unicorn company Glorang, and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the Dankook University G-RISE Project Consortium and Ritsumeikan University.
Kim Oyung, Head of Department, stated, "In line with the government's strategy to become one of the top three AI powerhouses, we have created a platform for international exchange between Korean and Japanese university students and unicorn companies. Moving forward, we will continue to nurture approximately 32,000 local talents in future growth industries in Gyeonggi Province, such as AI, big data, and advanced mobility (G7/GX), to establish a virtuous cycle of regional innovation."
