Starting with around 1,200 GS25 stores in the Seoul area on this day, GS Retail will sequentially roll out the Coupang Eats quick commerce service at over 100 GS The Fresh stores beginning August 28. The company is also considering further expansion in the future.
Customers can order approximately 20,000 items-including ready-to-eat meals, fresh food, and daily necessities-for delivery through the GS25 and GS The Fresh tabs in the 'Shopping' menu of the Coupang Eats application. Both companies expect to create quick commerce synergy by combining product lineups targeting single- and two-person households and local grocery shopping needs with Coupang Eats' delivery infrastructure.
With this partnership, GS Retail has become the only company in the industry to collaborate on quick commerce services with all three major domestic delivery apps-Baemin, Coupang Eats, and Yogiyo. GS Retail explained that, including its own app 'Woori Neighborhood GS' and Naver, it has established a quick commerce network with approximately 45 million monthly active users (MAU). Going forward, the company plans to leverage its 18,000 offline stores nationwide as logistics hubs to establish itself as a leading quick commerce platform.
Jeon Jinhyuk, Head of O4O at GS Retail, said, "GS Retail is strengthening its O4O strategy by seamlessly connecting online and offline channels throughout the customer shopping experience and offering differentiated products and services. Based on this collaboration with Coupang Eats, we will continue to advance our customer-centric quick commerce services and drive mutual growth with our franchisees."
