To Reporters: "I Will Look Into Whether It Is True"
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on the 25th (local time) that the South Korean government had raided U.S. military bases and churches.
At an executive order signing ceremony held at the White House that day, President Trump made this statement in response to reporters asking why he had posted on social media that there seemed to be a purge or revolution taking place in South Korea.
He said, "I've heard that in recent days, the new South Korean government has raided churches in a very vicious manner," adding, "I also understand that they entered our military bases and obtained information." He continued, "They should not have done that."
This remark is interpreted as targeting the ongoing special prosecutor's raids in South Korea. Last month, the Special Investigation Team for the Fallen Marine conducted a search and seizure at Yoido Full Gospel Church, while the Special Investigation Team for Insurrection searched the U.S. military base in Osan, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
President Trump stated, "I don't know if it's true. I will look into it," and added, "Such actions cannot be tolerated."
