Gyeongju City Council Holds "APEC Playground: Let's Play with the Council" Event... Promoting APEC and Local Council with Citizen and Tourist Participation

The Gyeongju City Council (Chairman Lee Donghyeop) announced on the 25th that it recently held the "APEC Playground: Let's Play with the Council" event in front of the Hwangnam-dong Community Center. The event aimed to widely promote the role of local councils in the era of local autonomy and to spread a positive atmosphere for the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit.


This event, organized by the Gyeongju City Council on August 23, was a citizen participation-based public event focused on creating a participatory festival where not only Gyeongju citizens but also domestic and international tourists could come together and enjoy.

The event took place on Hwangridan-gil, one of Gyeongju's most popular tourist destinations, and featured a variety of experiential booths such as the APEC and Council Exhibition Hall, O/X quizzes, traditional gat (Korean hat) making, photo zones, and traditional yutnori (Korean board game) experiences, all of which received enthusiastic responses from participants.


An event official explained, "By operating a variety of exhibition and experience booths during the event, we aimed to help citizens and tourists gain a correct understanding of the Gyeongju City Council and raise awareness of the 2025 APEC Summit."


Lee Donghyeop, Chairman of the Gyeongju City Council, stated, "At the 'APEC Successful Hosting Seminar' held by the council in December last year, many citizens expressed the need for participatory events, and in response, we prepared this event."


Lee Rakwoo, Chairman of the Special Committee for Supporting the 2025 APEC Summit, remarked, "This well-prepared event was meaningful in that it received a great response not only from Gyeongju citizens but also from tourists. I ask for your continued enthusiastic interest and support for APEC and the Gyeongju City Council, just as passionate as this summer has been."
