13 "Heritage Restaurants" Selected in Iksan
Somri Pork Backbone Stew Main Branch Newly Added to the List
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province has finalized the selection of 13 "Heritage Restaurants" that have preserved traditional flavors and sincerity.
According to the city on the 25th, the selection process began with an open call in June, followed by a document review, on-site evaluations (taste, hygiene, service, and succession status), and a strict review by the Iksan City Food Culture Improvement Committee.

In addition to the existing Heritage Restaurants that passed the re-designation review, "Somri Pork Backbone Stew Main Branch" was newly added to the list.
The 13 selected establishments are: Noh Hyeongnam Traditional Loach Soup Main Restaurant (Loach Soup), Daeya Restaurant (Ox Head Soup), Dongseone Nakji (Stir-fried Beef Tripe and Octopus), Mujinjang Galbi Village (Beef Rib Soup), Banyadol Stone Pot Rice (Banyadol Stone Pot Rice), Baek In-suk Marinated Crab (Marinated Crab), Busong Noodles (Noodles), Jeonju Soba (Soba), Jinmi Restaurant (Yukhoe Bibimbap), Hanil Restaurant (Hwangdeung Korean Beef Yukhoe Bibimbap), Hamrasan Hwangto Garden (Spicy Stir-fried Duck), Hamjibak Restaurant (Italian Pork Cutlet), and Somri Pork Backbone Stew Main Branch (Pork Backbone Stew).
In particular, the newly selected Somri Pork Backbone Stew Main Branch is a second-generation family-run business and has been consecutively designated as an exemplary restaurant for 2024 and 2025, further enhancing its credibility.
The selected restaurants will receive a Heritage Restaurant certification plaque, promotion through the city website and brochures, a 30% discount on water utility fees, support for sanitary supplies, and additional points when being considered for exemplary restaurant designation, among other benefits.
The city plans to host a tasting event at the "NS Food Festa 2025 in Iksan," which will be held on August 26-27 at the 4th General Industrial Complex in Hamyeol-eup, to showcase Iksan's rich flavors and sincerity to visitors from all over the country.
A city official stated, "Heritage Restaurants go beyond taste; they represent the dignity of Iksan's culinary culture and serve as a catalyst for local gastronomic tourism. We will continue to enhance the value of Heritage Restaurants through ongoing quality management and communication with the selected establishments."
