Jafar Panahi's Latest Film
Korean Premiere Set for October 1
Film distributor Green Narae Media announced on August 25 that this year's Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or winner, "It Was Just an Accident," will have its Korean premiere on October 1.
This is the latest work by renowned Iranian director Jafar Panahi. The film tells the story of Vahid, who, after returning to his ordinary life, embarks on a quest for revenge when he identifies the man who led him to hell by a particular sound. The cast includes Vahid Mobasheri, Maryam Afshari, Ebrahim Azizi, and Hadis Parkbaten.
This film was invited to the competition section of this year's Cannes Film Festival, where it won the highest honor, the Palme d'Or. With this achievement, Director Panahi has completed the 'Triple Crown' by winning the top prizes at all three major international film festivals. Previously, he won the Golden Lion at the 2000 Venice International Film Festival and the Golden Bear at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival.
A Green Narae Media representative stated, "It is an honor to present the work of a world-renowned master to Korean audiences for the first time anywhere in the world," and recommended, "We encourage viewers to reflect on the title, which encapsulates the film's premise and theme, as they watch."
