This year's academy was held under the theme of 'Communication Between Science and the Humanities - Fertility Preservation Strategies Before Anti-Cancer and Radiation Therapy and Oocyte Cryopreservation Support Program,' providing a forum for interdisciplinary discussion encompassing medicine, policy, and the humanities.

The first session, focusing on fertility preservation for female patients about to undergo cancer treatment, highlighted strategies for preserving fertility in women prior to anti-cancer and radiation therapy.

Professor Kim Hoon of Seoul National University emphasized, "Women facing cancer treatment require a variety of fertility preservation strategies tailored to their individual circumstances," underscoring the importance of personalized treatment choices.

Following this, Jeong Sujeon, Deputy Director of Sehwa Hospital, shared the principles of oocyte cryopreservation and clinical research outcomes, helping the audience deepen their understanding.

The second session concentrated on policy and research findings.

Seo Jiyeon, a member of the Busan Metropolitan Council, stressed, "It is urgent to improve support policies to reduce the burden on patients undergoing anti-cancer and radiation therapy."

Ha Ana, a researcher at Sehwa Hospital's Institute of Reproductive Medicine, presented clinical results, stating, "Advancements in oocyte cryopreservation technology are leading to higher pregnancy success rates."

The final session featured a lecture in the humanities.

Architect Seung Hyo-sang (CEO of IROJE) spoke on 'Our Cities and Architecture in This Era,' stating, "A city is not merely a physical space, but a vessel for human life and spirit." He emphasized the role of architecture in restoring communities and upholding human dignity, deeply resonating with attendees.

Sehwa Hospital Director Lee Sangchan remarked, "This year's academy was a meaningful occasion where we shared the latest medical insights, policy discussions, and humanistic reflections. In the AI era, what we need is not just the delivery of knowledge, but an exchange reminiscent of the Athenian Academy, where we learn from and debate with each other. I hope Sehwa Academy will grow into an international platform encompassing medicine, society, and the humanities."

Since its inception in 1997, Sehwa Academy has established itself as an annual academic and cultural event bringing together experts and citizens. Next year, it is expected to continue with even deeper discussions and a wider variety of programs.
