Sungjae Im finished tied for 27th on this year’s PGA Tour.
On August 24 (local time), at the East Lake Golf Club (par 70, 7,440 yards) in Atlanta, Georgia, Im carded a 2-under-par 68 in the fourth round of the Tour Championship, the final event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which has a total prize fund of $40 million. Im qualified for the Tour Championship, the season finale reserved for the top 30 in FedEx Cup points, for the seventh consecutive year, but remained near the bottom of the leaderboard. He started the first round tied for 17th, slipped to a tie for 20th in the second round, and dropped further to 28th after the third round. After taking a break, Im will compete in the Genesis Championship, a joint event on the DP World Tour and the Korean PGA (KPGA) Tour, to be held at Woojeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, Chungnam, on October 23.
Starting the final day in 28th place, Im recorded three birdies and one bogey. He had a shaky start with a bogey at the 1st hole but recovered with a birdie at the 8th (both par 4). On the back nine, he added birdies at the 11th (par 3) and 17th (par 4). Im previously performed well at this tournament, finishing tied for second in 2022 and seventh last year.
Tommy Fleetwood of England, a top-ranked player who had not previously won on the PGA Tour, captured the FedEx Cup title. He shot 2-under on the final day to secure a two-shot victory at 18-under-par 262. This marked his first win in 164 PGA Tour events. The winner’s prize is $10 million (about 13.8 billion KRW).

Fleetwood, ranked 10th in the world, is a dominant force on the European Tour with seven career victories. Before this event, he had six runner-up finishes and 44 top-10s on the PGA Tour without a win. His career earnings stood at $33,430,669 (about 46.2 billion KRW), making him the highest-earning player on the PGA Tour without a victory. In his post-win interview, he said, "I’m proud of myself. I’ve finally opened the door to my first win," and added, "It’s thanks to my consistent efforts. I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received."
Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley finished tied for second at 15-under-par 265. World No. 1 and defending champion Scottie Scheffler, along with the others, carded a 2-under-par 68 to finish tied for fourth at 14-under-par 266. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland shot an even-par 70 on the final day to finish tied for 23rd at 6-under-par 274, closing out his year.
