Visits Local Era Committee and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
to Request Support for Key Projects
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province visited the Local Era Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to meet with officials and request support for major pending projects.
On August 22, Acting Mayor Jang Geumyong visited to discuss the implementation plans for key projects included in national policy tasks with relevant ministries, strengthen cooperation systems, and seek government assistance in resolving urgent local issues.
The main projects discussed included the establishment of the Changwon branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the early opening of the double-track railway between Bujeon and Masan?both of which are part of regional pledges for South Gyeongsang Province?as well as proposals for stable operation and substantial authority expansion of special cities, such as revising the designation criteria for non-capital area special cities and expediting the enactment of a special law for special cities.
In addition, the city requested the inclusion of Masan district as a designated area of interest due to population decline to help revitalize the region. Cooperation was also sought for increasing the number of KTX train services and adjusting schedules to improve convenience for South Gyeongsang residents and NC Dinos baseball fans, as well as for the construction of a high-speed railway connecting Dongdaegu, Changwon, and the new Gadeokdo Airport.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "As we are at a critical juncture with rapidly changing domestic and international policy environments, I will do my utmost to respond swiftly to these changes, align with the new government's policy direction, resolve urgent local issues, and ensure the sustainable development of Changwon."
