Army Sergeant Found Unconscious at Frontline Unit in Gangwon Province Dies

A sergeant in the Army who was found unconscious at a frontline unit in Gangwon Province has died.

According to the Army's 2nd Corps on August 23, at around 7:17 a.m. that day, Sergeant A was found unconscious at a frontline unit in Gangwon Province. Sergeant A was airlifted by military helicopter to the Capital Hospital but was pronounced dead at approximately 9:31 a.m. the same day.

It has been reported that just before Sergeant A was found, fellow soldiers heard gunshots within the unit. Military authorities, in cooperation with civilian investigative agencies, are investigating the circumstances of the incident, considering various possibilities based on statements from the unit members.
