On the 22nd, distributor Toho announced that 'Gukbo' had attracted approximately 7.82 million viewers as of the previous day, recording box office revenue of 11.01 billion yen (about 103.3 billion KRW). The top spot remains with 'Bayside Shakedown 2', which earned 17.3 billion yen.

Released on June 6, 'Gukbo' is based on a novel by Shuichi Yoshida. Ryo Yoshizawa and Ryusei Yokohama star in the film, which depicts the complex love and hate relationships within the world of kabuki, a traditional Japanese performing art.

Director Lee had already been recognized for his directing skills through works such as 'Hula Girls', 'Villain', and 'Rage'. More recently, he also participated in directing season 2 of the Apple TV+ original series 'Pachinko'.
