The first rice harvest of the year, marking the official start of autumn, took place on August 22 in the farmland of Lee Ikseon in Seonggok-ri, Daedeok-myeon, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do. The harvested variety was the early-maturing 'Ppareumi', making it the earliest harvest in Damyang since rice planting began in April. Lee said, "Despite difficult conditions such as flood damage and heat waves, I am delighted to harvest the first rice that signals the beginning of autumn," adding, "Next year, I would like to try double cropping rice."
