Defense Minister An Kyubaek Meets U.S. Charg? d'Affaires, Reaffirms Support for ROK-U.S. Alliance

On the 22nd, at the Ministry of National Defense building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Defense Minister An Kyubaek met with Joseph Yun, Charg? d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Korea, and stated, "The ROK-U.S. alliance has always been together, like the two axles of a wheel or the two sides of a coin."

According to the Ministry of National Defense, Minister An made these remarks during his meeting with Charg? d'Affaires Yun. He also expressed his appreciation for Yun's contributions to strengthening the ROK-U.S. alliance since his appointment in January, and emphasized the importance of deepening and advancing the alliance through continued close communication.


Charg? d'Affaires Yun congratulated Minister An on his inauguration and reaffirmed the United States' unwavering support for the ROK-U.S. alliance. Both sides agreed that North Korea's advancement of its nuclear and missile capabilities, as well as the illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, pose significant threats not only to the Korean Peninsula but also to the international community. They concurred that the ROK and the U.S. must actively cooperate to effectively deter and respond to these threats.



The two sides also agreed to continue their cooperation to further develop the alliance from a mutually beneficial and future-oriented perspective, while maintaining a robust combined defense posture.
