Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 22nd that a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, has been arrested and referred to the prosecution on charges of theft for stealing items from a supermarket.
Mr. A is accused of stealing items worth approximately 900,000 won, including whiskey and coffee, from a supermarket in Duam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, on July 1. Police tracked him down using closed-circuit (CC) TV footage and apprehended him on the streets of Duam-dong on the 18th.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A had no fixed occupation or residence and had been making a living by reselling stolen goods through secondhand transactions. The police judged that there was a risk of repeat offenses and applied for an arrest warrant, which was issued by the court, leading to Mr. A being referred to the prosecution.
