Welfare Expo to Showcase Community Initiatives and Hands-on Programs
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) announced on August 22 that it will host the "2025 Jongno Welfare Expo" at Marronnier Park in Daehak-ro (104 Daehak-ro) on September 5, in celebration of the 26th Social Welfare Day.
This event is organized to commend individuals who have contributed to the development of social welfare and to increase residents' interest in and understanding of Jongno-gu's welfare policies.
Held under the theme "Meeting Welfare in Jongno," the expo will feature 26 local social welfare organizations operating a total of 27 promotional and experiential booths. The booths will be divided into six categories: seniors, people with disabilities, children and youth, health, employment, and community welfare.
The experiential programs will include making natural mosquito repellents, trying out smart welfare devices, dementia prevention screenings, disability experience and sign language learning, and creating support messages for youth, offering a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy.
The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a celebratory performance, followed by the official ceremony at 10:30 a.m. During the ceremony, the Jongno-gu District Mayor's Award and other honors will be presented to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to social welfare.
Additionally, there will be a public awareness campaign to identify isolated or at-risk households, and a "Mobile Food Market" will be operated for approximately 150 welfare-vulnerable residents. Those recommended by local community centers will receive food and daily necessities at the market set up at the entrance of the event venue.
Jongno-gu District Mayor Jeong Moon-heon stated, "The Welfare Expo is a representative event that demonstrates Jongno-gu's commitment to 'field-centered welfare and resident-focused welfare.' I deeply appreciate everyone who is dedicated at the forefront of community welfare. We will continue to do our best to create a warm Jongno with no blind spots in welfare."
