Guam 2-dong in Masanhwawon-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held the '5th Guam 2-dong Residents' General Meeting' in the grand auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Administrative Welfare Center and finalized five resident-led projects for next year.
The general meeting, held on the 21st, went beyond a simple meeting format. It was organized as a festive event combining culture and resident participation, featuring exciting pre-meeting performances by four teams using resident-led programs such as line dancing and Nanta, as well as a calligraphy exhibition. The event was a great success, attended by around 150 people, including local district assembly members, members of local organizations, and residents.
During the meeting, participants reviewed this year's activities of the Residents' Council, and then finalized the autonomous plans to be implemented in 2026 by combining the results of advance and on-site voting.
As a result, five projects were selected by residents to be carried out next year: operation of the Green Forest Exercise Class, operation of the Guam Academy, creation of the Gentle Pinwheel Yard, a project to capture diverse family memories, and hosting of the Guam Market.
These projects will be actively promoted from next year with a total budget of up to 20 million KRW. They are expected to contribute to improving the quality of life for residents and revitalizing the local community.
Hwang Gyudong, Chairperson of the Guam 2-dong Residents' Council, stated, "The annual residents' general meeting is a valuable process in which each and every resident directly shapes the changes in our community," adding, "I hope that resident participation and communication will continue to expand in the future."
Shim Yangsuk, Head of Guam 2-dong, said, "This year's general meeting was a venue where residents' passion and cultural sensibility came together," and added, "We will actively support various resident-led projects to create a Guam 2-dong where everyone enjoys being together."
