Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Secures Hosting of 2027 Asia-Oceania Membrane Conference

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has secured the hosting rights for the "16th Asia-Oceania Membrane Conference (AMS16)" to be held in 2027.

This achievement was made during the board meeting of the 15th AMS (Asia-Oceania Membrane Society), which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 19 to 21, following fierce competition with India, the other final candidate.

Gyeonggi Province highlighted its strengths, including world-class competitiveness in membrane technology, domestic researchers and companies, and advanced industrial infrastructure. In addition, the province actively promoted the excellent MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure of the Suwon Convention Center, as well as its accommodation and tourism resources, earning high praise from AMS board members.

In particular, this success was the result of close collaboration from the preparation stage to the local presentation, with the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, Korea Tourism Organization, Korean Membrane Society, and Suwon Convention Center signing a business agreement for the bid and working together closely.

The 16th conference will be held at the Suwon Convention Center from August 17 to 20, 2027, with around 1,000 participants, including leading scholars and industry experts from 25 countries worldwide.

Held every two years, the AMS conference is a prestigious international academic event representing the membrane technology sector in the Asia-Oceania region. It serves as a venue for experts from academia, industry, and research institutes around the world to share the latest research achievements and exchange technologies. The conference is also listed with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Union of International Associations (UIA).

A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization stated, "This achievement will serve as another stepping stone for Gyeonggi Province to become a global MICE hub beyond Asia," adding, "We will maximize the economic impact by linking academic events with corporate exhibitions, industry tours, and tourism programs during the conference period."
