"20% Cashback on Onnuri Gift Certificate Purchases in Special Disaster Zones"

Cashback Event Runs from August 24 to Year-End
Weekly Cashback System
Minimum Spending Requirement: 5,000 Won

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on August 22 that it will launch a digital Onnuri Gift Certificate cashback event for approximately four months, from August 24 to December 31, targeting vulnerable commercial districts such as traditional markets and alleyway shopping areas in 49 special disaster zones.

This event was prepared in line with the "Measures to Revitalize Local Economies and Promote Win-Win Consumption," announced at the Economic Ministers' Meeting on August 7. The aim is to boost local consumption and support the livelihood stability of residents in the 49 regions that have suffered damage from recent disasters.

"20% Cashback on Onnuri Gift Certificate Purchases in Special Disaster Zones"

The special disaster zone cashback event will run from August to December, and the cashback rate will be raised from the previous 10% to 20%. The event will be operated on a weekly basis, with each round running from Sunday to Saturday. Consumers who pay with digital Onnuri Gift Certificates (mobile or card type) will receive up to 20% of their total accumulated spending per round as a cashback in the same digital gift certificate.

The cashback will be distributed sequentially through the "Gift" function starting about ten days after the end of each round. Recipients must accept the gift in their gift box within 30 days from the date of distribution; otherwise, the cashback amount will expire. If the balance exceeds 2 million won, recipients must use enough funds to receive the cashback gift.

Rounds 1 to 5 will be conducted in parallel with the existing nationwide cashback event. For special disaster zones, an additional 10% will be applied to the existing 10% cashback rate, providing a total of 20% cashback. The maximum cashback per event is 20,000 won, and up to 40,000 won in total can be received by combining both events. From the 6th round (September 28 to October 4) onward, only the special disaster zone cashback event will be held, with a maximum cashback rate of 20%.

The minimum spending required for cashback is 10,000 won per event for rounds 1 to 5, and 5,000 won from round 6 onward. Cashback will be applied in units of 1,000 won, and amounts less than 1,000 won will be disregarded. Although the special disaster zone cashback event is planned to run through December, it may end early if the budget is exhausted.

Lee Daegun, Director of Small Business Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, "This special disaster zone cashback event is a policy designed to support the livelihood stability of affected regions and help restore sales in traditional markets and shopping districts. We hope that this cashback event will contribute to the economic recovery of areas struggling due to disasters."
