"Never Touch It": Blue Pok?mon-Like Creature Causes Stir on Spanish Beach The appearance of Glaucus atlanticus found in Spain. The Sun

According to The Sun, a UK media outlet, on August 21 (local time), authorities in Guardamar del Segura, Alicante Province, recently issued a red alert and raised a red flag after two Glaucus atlanticus, commonly called "Blue Dragons" or "Blue Angels," were found on Vivers Beach. The authorities stated, "Sunbathing on the beach is permitted, but swimming is prohibited for the time being," warning that violators may be fined.

The Blue Dragon measures only 3 to 4 centimeters in length but preys on the highly venomous Portuguese man o' war. It absorbs the venom of its prey and concentrates it at the tips of its own tentacles, and stings can cause vomiting, nausea, pain, and acute dermatitis. Although it resembles a blue-winged Pok?mon in appearance, it also exhibits cannibalistic tendencies.

Mayor Jose Luis Saez emphasized, "Despite its small and beautiful appearance, it is an extremely dangerous creature," adding, "If spotted, do not touch it with bare hands or even while wearing gloves. Report it immediately to the rescue team." City authorities are strengthening surveillance to monitor for other individuals that may be drifting in with the currents.

Similar incidents have occurred at other beaches as well. Last Sunday, six Blue Dragons were found at Santa Barbara Beach in Spain, resulting in a ban on swimming there as well.
