Appointment as Full-Time Faculty Member in the Department of Trade at Incheon National University
Lecturing on "International Business" Starting This Semester
Yoodam, daughter of former lawmaker Yoo Seungmin, who drew attention during the 2017 presidential election for her outstanding appearance, will begin teaching as a university professor starting in September.
On the 21st, TV Chosun reported, "Yoodam has been appointed as a full-time faculty member at Incheon National University for the second semester of the 2025 academic year and will be appointed as a professor in the Department of Trade at the College of Global Economics and Politics starting September 1."
According to the report, Yoodam is scheduled to teach two elective courses in international business at the Department of Trade at Incheon National University beginning in the second semester of this year. An official from Incheon National University told TV Chosun, "For the first year after the initial appointment, she is required to teach six credits per semester," adding, "While the specific courses have been decided internally, we cannot confirm the exact details."
Born in 1994, Yoodam is 31 years old this year. She graduated from the College of Law at Dongguk University, earned a master's degree in business administration from Yonsei University, and received a doctorate in business administration from Korea University. Yoodam is not the youngest professor to be appointed; according to Incheon National University, there was a previous case where a full-time faculty member was appointed at the age of 28.
Yoodam first appeared in the media during the April 2016 general election, when Yoo Seungmin ran as an independent candidate in Dong-gu, Daegu. She gained further attention for supporting his campaigns during the 2017 presidential election and the 2022 local elections. Her celebrity-like appearance at the time made her a top search term on major portal sites, and Yoo Seungmin even earned the nickname "the nation's father-in-law."
However, Yoo Seungmin was cautious about mentioning Yoodam, saying, "I don't want to use my daughter." When Yoo Seungmin ran as the People Power Party candidate in the 20th presidential election in 2022, Yoodam posted a supportive video on the "Yoo Seungmin TV" YouTube channel. At the time, she said, "Many people around me encourage me to actively support my father's campaign, but my father, always feeling sorry toward me, never asks me to do so. Since it was really the final stage, I wanted to support him even a little, so I decided to make this video."
She also said, "Since my father started his political career, there have been many painful moments for me as his child. The most upsetting times are when my father's sincere comments or advice, spoken out of genuine concern for the country's future, are distorted. As I grow older, I realize how remarkable it is to walk a difficult path to uphold one's philosophy and beliefs like my father. That's why I respect him even more. Not only as his child, but also as a citizen, I support Yoo Seungmin."
