The Manho-dong Regional Cooperative in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do continued its warm spirit of sharing by returning proceeds from a festival to the local community.
On August 19, the Geonmaek 1897 Cooperative visited the Manho-dong Administrative Welfare Center and donated 854,000 KRW in sponsorship funds raised through an auction event at the Toyaho (土夜好) Festival. These funds will be used to support low-income and vulnerable groups, and, with Chuseok approaching, will be delivered to families facing financial difficulties, adding further significance to the donation.
As the seventh "Sharing House" in Manho-dong, the cooperative donates festival proceeds every year. It also consistently supports the local underprivileged through various activities, such as providing assistance to children entering elementary school and delivering blankets to elderly residents living alone.
Park Changsu, chairman of the Geonmaek 1897 Cooperative, said, "I am pleased that the results of a festival created by the local community are once again being shared with our residents," adding, "We will continue our efforts to support the local community in the future."
Jung Seungho, head of Manho-dong, stated, "I am grateful to the cooperative for not only revitalizing the community through the festival but also practicing sharing," and added, "We will ensure that these valuable sponsorship funds are delivered to neighbors in need."
