YG Entertainment announced on August 21 that BLACKPINK has held popup stores in five cities across China.
Starting with Shanghai on August 2, BLACKPINK opened the "BLACKPINK World Tour Popup Store" at major downtown shopping malls in key cities, including Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Chengdu on August 3, and Beijing on August 5.
The Shanghai popup is currently being held on the first floor of the JOY CITY complex shopping mall, covering approximately 500 square meters. Despite limiting entry to 1,500 people per day through advance reservations during the opening weekend, there was such high interest that many people waited on-site.
The store offers concert merchandise, official goods, albums, as well as light sticks, character keyrings, handheld fans, cameras, tote bags, hats, and T-shirts. Some items sold out immediately upon opening, prompting additional orders and reservation sales.
The popup also features a photo zone reminiscent of the world tour trailer and a large message wall where fans can leave handwritten messages for the members. The popup store will run until August 31.
On August 8, marking the group’s ninth debut anniversary, an event was held where the rooftop Ferris wheel LED billboard at Shanghai JOY CITY was lit up with the BLACKPINK logo and their signature pink color.
YG Entertainment stated, "We are expanding activities in China for our artists, including BLACKPINK and TREASURE," adding, "At the end of this month, we will also host a popup for BABYMONSTER and present a variety of events."
