Gwangju to Host the 35th Mayor's Beauty Arts Competition
Aiming to Foster Talent and Revitalize the Local Beauty Industry
In Gwangju, passion and creativity in beauty will come together in one place.
The Gwangju City Council of the Korea Beauty Association (Chairperson Kim Hyunja) announced on the 21st that it will hold the 35th Gwangju Mayor's Beauty Arts Competition at the Dongkang University Gymnasium on September 9.
This competition, sponsored by Gwangju Metropolitan City, aims to foster friendship and unity among local beauty professionals, share new technologies, revitalize the beauty industry, and nurture future experts.
The event will feature more than 1,000 participants, including both professionals and students, who will showcase their skills in a total of 35 categories such as hair, skin, nails, and makeup.
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Council of the Korea Beauty Association expects this competition to bring various positive outcomes, including expanding the local beauty industry, discovering outstanding talent, and enhancing technical skills.
Applications for participation will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on the 25th. Winners will be granted eligibility to compete not only in domestic competitions but also in international events.
In 2023, the city established the "Beauty Industry Team" to foster field-oriented talent and promote the creation of quality jobs through innovation in the beauty service industry. Based on these efforts, Gwangju is accelerating the development of an industrial model to become a "beauty city."
On the day of the competition, a congratulatory performance will be held. Invited singers Kim Yeonja and Hwang Minho will take the stage, followed by a K-beauty hair show. All events are free to attend.
Kim Hyunja, Chairperson of the Gwangju City Council of the Korea Beauty Association, said, "This competition is a meaningful occasion for local beauty professionals to unite and compete. I hope all participants will fully display their skills, and that this event will serve as a catalyst for Gwangju to grow into a central city in the beauty industry."
