Sancheong Sarang Gift Certificate Worth 200,000 Won Now Provided
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on August 21 that it is expanding its support program for voluntary driver’s license returns by elderly drivers.
This program provides incentives to seniors aged 70 and older who voluntarily return their driver’s licenses, aiming to prevent traffic accidents involving elderly drivers and to create a safer traffic environment.
In particular, starting this year, the program has been expanded to further encourage voluntary license returns and contribute to revitalizing the local economy. Instead of the previous 100,000 won transportation card, participants now receive a Sancheong Sarang gift certificate worth 200,000 won.
Eligible applicants are county residents aged 70 or older who have not previously received benefits for voluntarily returning their driver’s license. Applications can be made at the local township or town office with a valid driver’s license.
Kim Jaemyung, head of the Construction and Transportation Division, stated, "The risk of traffic accidents is increasing due to the declining driving abilities of elderly drivers. We hope that expanding these incentives will encourage more voluntary license returns and help create a safer traffic environment."
