Book Curation, Lectures, and Hands-on Learning
To Be Held at Baengma Hwasarang from August 25 to 31
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on August 20 that it will host the "Summer Night Bookcation" at Baengma Hwasarang every evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., from August 25 to 31.
This event is co-hosted by Baengma Hwasarang, Madu Library, and the Goyang Carbon Neutrality Support Center. It is designed to allow citizens, weary from their busy daily lives, to enjoy a relaxing time with books in the city while also reflecting on the environment and the future.
During the event period, unique reading spaces such as themed book curation zones and transcription areas will be set up both indoors and outdoors at Baengma Hwasarang. Bookstands and outdoor cushions will also be available for rent. Any Goyang citizen can participate without prior reservation and immerse themselves in reading against the backdrop of a charming summer night.
Additionally, on August 28 and 29, talk lectures and hands-on programs will be held. The lectures, under the theme "Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality Connected to My Life," will provide both knowledge and practical insights into climate action. Hands-on activities such as making iris shampoo bars and keyrings will also take place.
The lectures are open to the first 22 participants per day on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration can be completed on the Baengma Hwasarang website. Participation in the lectures is completely free of charge.
An official from Goyang Special City stated, "We hope that even without traveling far, a special summer night filled with romantic reading and lectures at Baengma Hwasarang will become a small pause and a warm resonance in the daily lives of Goyang citizens."
