The Korea Musical Association announced on the 20th that Hong Yeonju, a student at Hongik University, has been selected as the Grand Prize winner of the 3rd Korea International Musical Competition.
The Korea International Musical Competition is a stage for discovering the next generation of Korean musical talents who will advance to the global stage. It is hosted by the Korea Musical Association and sponsored by NHN Link.

The competition consisted of four individual divisions: elementary, middle school, high school, and college/general. Through preliminary rounds held in Seoul and Busan, 64 finalists were selected. The final round took place on August 18 at Ewha Womans University Samsung Hall, where 15 winners, including Grand Prize winner Hong Yeonju, were chosen.
The panel of judges for the preliminary and final rounds included Kim Seongsu (music director), Song Yongjin (musical actor), Shin Youngsook (musical actress), Yoo Heeseong (director), Lee Beomjae (music director), Lee Sunghoon (CEO of Show Note), Lee Jongkyu (Chairman of the Korea Musical Association), Lee Heonjae (CEO of Neo Production), Choi Seungyeon (musical critic), and Pyo Sanga (director and playwright).
The 15 winners will receive certificates, trophies, and prize money, along with various additional benefits. They will be exempt from the document screening process when applying for auditions at 15 major musical production companies for the 2025-2026 seasons and will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops with musical experts such as actors and music directors. In addition, they will be given the chance to take part in the "2025 Korea Musical Festival - 10th Korea Musical Awards" and the "Musical Number Master Class," which will be held as a side event.
