Asan Police Hospital Construction Project Passes Preliminary Feasibility Study... Aiming to Open in 2029

The Asan Police Hospital will be the first specialized hospital established outside the Seoul metropolitan area in 34 years, since the Seoul Police Hospital was relocated and newly built in Songpa-gu, Seoul in 1991. It will be a general hospital with a total of 300 beds and a total project cost of 172.4 billion won. The hospital will operate six specialized medical centers focused on common diseases among field police officers: the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, Mental Health Center, Respiratory Specialty Center, Musculoskeletal Center, Urology Center, and Health Promotion and Metabolic Disease Center, as well as 24 medical departments in total.

The Asan Police Hospital plans to provide essential and critical care, which has been lacking in the region, with 28 beds in the emergency room, 18 beds in the intensive care unit, and 20 beds in the infectious disease ward (negative pressure rooms). Its public healthcare capacity is also expected to be significantly strengthened, including the ability to respond to health crises such as national disasters and infectious disease outbreaks.

Yoo Jaeseong, Acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, stated, "Passing the preliminary feasibility study for the Asan Police Hospital Construction Project is the result of the collective wishes of all 140,000 police officers," and added, "To improve the treatment and morale of field police officers, we will ensure that every step from securing the budget to construction proceeds without delay."
