Gwangju Transportation Corporation (President Jo Ikmun) is accelerating efforts to address facility damage caused by last month's heavy rainfall, devoting all available resources to the final stages of restoration work.

On July 17, after part of Sangmu Station was flooded due to torrential rain, the corporation promptly suspended operations on certain sections to ensure passenger safety. All employees participated in the restoration efforts and facility inspections, allowing operations to resume just one day after the damage occurred.

However, among the station facilities, four escalators between the platform and the concourse were completely submerged by the heavy rain and now require repairs by a specialized company. Accordingly, the corporation is actively coordinating with Gwangju City to secure the necessary budget and is currently proceeding with the purchase contract process. It is expected that final installation will take about two to three months to complete.

On August 20, President Jo Ikmun stated, "We sincerely apologize to citizens using the urban railway," and added, "We will do our utmost to fully restore the facilities as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, the corporation is conducting frequent and thorough inspections of all station facilities and checking flood recovery supplies to minimize any additional inconvenience, ensuring the safety and convenience of passengers.
