Emergency Meeting Held to Strengthen Railway Safety Measures
SR, the national railway operator of Suseo High-Speed Rail (SRT), announced on August 20 that it held an emergency safety measures meeting to respond to and prevent accidents following a fatal incident that occurred in the Namseonghyeon-Cheongdo section of the Gyeongbu Line in Cheongdo-gun, North Gyeongsang Province.
Jongguk Lee, CEO of SR, presided over the meeting and instructed department heads and on-site managers to conduct urgent safety inspections of areas requiring caution and locations vulnerable to safety risks during train operations. He emphasized the need for thorough inspections to eliminate potential hazards and urged vigilance to prevent any further casualties.

Immediately after the accident the previous day, SR issued a company-wide emergency safety order and safety alert. The company communicated the need for heightened vigilance and strict compliance with regulations to all employees and partner companies, and mandated accident case education and on-site inspections.
CEO Lee stated, "We will take this accident as a lesson and ensure strict compliance with regulations and thorough safety inspections so that the public can use the railway safely."
