Gyeonggi Tourism Organization Expands Development of New Barrier-Free Tourism Courses for People with Disabilities

Gyeonggi Province is launching a pilot project for a newly developed barrier-free tourism course designed for people with disabilities.

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on August 20 that it has developed a customized barrier-free tourism course to ensure that six types of tourism-vulnerable groups-including those with visual, hearing, physical, and developmental disabilities, seniors, and families with infants-can travel safely and conveniently. The organization will conduct a pilot project for this new course.

By October, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will conduct a total of nine pilot tours, including a Gapyeong course for people with physical disabilities. Participants will directly experience the courses, such as a forest interpretation program at the National Yumyeongsan Natural Recreation Forest and an activity at the Gapyeong Begonia New Garden, to assess mobility and accessibility.

A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization stated, "This project is not simply about operating tours. It is a process of discovering and verifying courses suitable for tourism-vulnerable groups and providing practical travel information. We will do our best to expand a barrier-free tourism environment throughout the province so that everyone can enjoy travel without inconvenience."
