Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province announced that it will conduct a "Civil Defense Shelter Drill for Air Raid Preparedness" across the entire city on August 20, starting at 2:00 p.m. for 20 minutes. This drill will be carried out simultaneously nationwide, reflecting the current state of national security and domestic and international affairs.
The drill will proceed in the following order: an air raid warning will be issued at 2:00 p.m., a cautionary alert at 2:15 p.m., and the alert will be lifted at 2:20 p.m. When the air raid warning is issued, citizens must quickly move to the nearest civil defense shelter. Information on shelter locations can be found on the Safety Stepping Stone app or the National Disaster Safety Portal.
Additionally, civil defense personnel can participate as shelter guides or movement control staff at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers. Participation in this drill will be recognized as completion of the 2025 civil defense training.
A city official requested, "In order for citizens to respond calmly in emergency situations, please familiarize yourself in advance with the locations of nearby shelters and the appropriate actions to take, and actively participate in the drill."
