Expanding Strategic Cooperation with Dhaka Metro
Daejeon Transit Corporation Strengthens Technological Collaboration for Urban Railway Development
Daejeon Transit Corporation has decided to expand overall cooperation in the railway sector by strengthening technological collaboration with Dhaka Metro in Bangladesh.
On August 18, the corporation held a strategic meeting at its headquarters with Dhaka Metro (DMTCL, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited) to discuss expanding cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Daejeon Transit Corporation President Yeon Kyuyang, Dhaka Metro CEO Faruque Ahmed, Director General Mohammad Shamsul Azam of the Bangladesh Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, as well as officials involved in urban railway construction and operations from both countries.
During the meeting, which saw active participation from key executives and technical experts on both sides, a wide range of cooperation measures for the safe and efficient operation of urban railways were discussed in depth. These included personnel exchanges and support for education and training, technical consulting and information sharing, and the transfer of know-how in operations and maintenance.
In particular, the meeting went beyond simple formal exchanges to include future cooperation directions featuring concrete action plans, such as joint development of education and training programs, fostering of professional talent, and technological collaboration.
Daejeon Transit Corporation plans to play a supporting role in the operation of Bangladesh's urban railways, leveraging its accumulated experience in safe operations, management, and technology development.
Dhaka Metro is the company responsible for the construction and operation of urban railways in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The company is currently pursuing multiple urban railway projects, including the southern section of Metro Line 5. This meeting served as a stepping stone to broaden the scope of cooperation, taking advantage of the Metro Line 5 project being promoted with support from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).
President Yeon Kyuyang stated, "As we are successfully carrying out the feasibility study (F/S) for Metro Line 5, this discussion will generate substantial synergy in railway industry exchanges between the two countries. Moving forward, we will continue to widely promote our technology and experience in Bangladesh and other global markets."
