An anonymous donor in their 80s, residing in Seogu District, Gwangju Metropolitan City, has donated 50 million KRW in scholarship funds for future generations. According to Seogu District, the anonymous donor recently contributed 50 million KRW through the district’s scholarship foundation, marking the largest donation since the establishment of the Seogu Scholarship Foundation.

The anonymous donor lived in Seogu with their family for 28 years. As they were preparing to move to another region due to personal circumstances, they decided to make the donation after discussing it with their family, wishing to express gratitude to Seogu, which they consider both their hometown and a place like their parents’ home.

While wishing to remain unidentified, the donor conveyed their hope that “students, like sons and daughters, will be able to pursue their dreams to the fullest and grow into future leaders without financial hardship.”

The Seogu Scholarship Foundation plans to use the “faceless angel’s” donation to support the academic pursuits of students in the district who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Chairman Park Changap stated, “The positive influence of a generous person who donates a lifetime of savings to neighbors and the local community will serve as a valuable foundation for the development of ‘Good Seogu.’ Through this scholarship, the foundation will continue to provide interest and support so that students who benefit from it will embrace the values of sharing and solidarity and become rooted as healthy members of the community.”

Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2015, the Seogu Scholarship Foundation has provided over 1 billion KRW in scholarships-including merit scholarships, talent scholarships, happiness scholarships, and special scholarships-to more than 900 students in the district.
