Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province received a 'B' grade in the water supply sector of the '2025 Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation,' supervised by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, achieving a one-step higher result compared to the past two consecutive years.
This evaluation reviewed the 2024 management performance of 113 basic water supply operating agencies and others. It comprehensively assessed two areas-management administration and management performance-and divided the results into five grades, from 'A' to 'E.'
Yangju City has proactively invested in realizing water welfare by expanding water supply to areas vulnerable to water access, renovating aging water pipes and purification plants, and conducting precise safety inspections of water supply facilities to ensure a stable supply of clean tap water and improve customer satisfaction services.
Additionally, to enhance the operational efficiency of the local water supply, the city has implemented various management improvement measures, such as increasing the water tariff realization rate (80.12%), raising the water supply rate (98.8%), strengthening professional training for public enterprise employees, and continuously reducing costs.
As a result, the city was recognized for its balanced achievements across all areas in this evaluation, including management strategy, financial management, expansion of water supply facilities, tap water quality management, and customer satisfaction.
Yangju City Mayor Kang Suhyeon stated, "Following our selection as the top institution in the 2024 General Water Supply Business Operation and Management Evaluation, achieving excellent results in this public enterprise management evaluation is the outcome of our efforts to provide clean and safe tap water. Based on this, we will continue to pursue ongoing management innovation to become a trusted public enterprise for our citizens."
