Samsung C&T Achieves Industry-Low Defect Rate
Comprehensive Quality Management System Extends Beyond Move-In
On August 19, Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group announced that it will apply a differentiated quality management system to Gaepo Woosung 7th Complex, aiming to complete it as a premium residential complex.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's report on "Defect Determination Rates in Major Construction Companies’ Apartment Complexes Over the Past Five Years," Samsung C&T recorded a defect determination rate of 11.76%, which is about one-third of the average (31.16%) among the top 10 construction companies by construction capability evaluation.
Samsung C&T plans to extend its officially recognized consumer quality trust-such as being ranked No. 1 in construction capability evaluation for 12 consecutive years and No. 1 in National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) for 27 consecutive years-to Gaepo Woosung 7th Complex as well.
Kim Myungseok, Head of the Housing Business Division and Vice President, stated, "Gaepo Woosung 7th is not just a simple reconstruction apartment, but will be completed as a premium residential complex that brings together Samsung C&T's philosophy on quality, technological prowess, and service."
Samsung C&T plans to operate a dedicated A/S center for three years after the move-in of "Raemian Lumiwon," the reconstructed Gaepo Woosung 7th Complex. The Raemian service brand "Hestia" goes beyond simple defect repairs by predicting and preventing customer inconveniences in advance and responding in real time.
Recently, through the post-management (A/S) mobile app "Hestia 2.0," Samsung C&T has been further enhancing resident satisfaction by automatically analyzing A/S requests using AI-based image analysis technology and assigning the appropriate engineer in real time based on the submitted request.
A Samsung C&T representative explained, "From origin verification, process and quality accountability, experiment-based high-quality design, to post-move-in A/S, every step is part of a relentless quality management journey to create 'trusted residences.'"

Samsung C&T is building a comprehensive quality management system that extends "from groundbreaking to post-move-in," going beyond construction. Through its "Quality Management Platform," it subdivides checklists for each process, and with the "Quality Accountability System," it records responsible construction and inspection histories. The company also conducts "Quality Demonstrations" to pre-verify major processes such as waterproofing and insulation and to develop improvement measures.
For finishing materials, Samsung C&T conducts a "full inspection," directly checking production processes both domestically and overseas. Even for items imported from Europe, quality experts will personally inspect manufacturing lines and verify performance, eco-friendliness, and certifications.
A Samsung C&T representative emphasized, "The higher the grade of finishing materials, the greater the potential for defects depending on the usage environment, so proven durability is more important than design. Pre-quality management throughout the entire process is the most important starting point for creating a premium complex."
At dedicated research facilities operated by Samsung C&T, such as "Raemian Goyoan Lab" and the "Residential Performance Research Institute," performance factors experienced by residents-including floor impact noise, insulation, soundproofing, durability, and eco-friendliness-are tested and verified under conditions similar to actual apartments. Floor structures and insulation designs that reduce floor noise are also improved here through multiple empirical tests.
A Samsung C&T representative stated, "These research facilities serve as quality development platforms that design the quality of life for Raemian customers. The essence of the Raemian brand lies in thoroughly experimenting with even the invisible aspects and reflecting that data in the field."
