Lotte Town Jamsil is a location that brings together Lotte Department Store Jamsil branch, Lotte World Mall, and other facilities, attracting over 50 million visitors annually. Style Run is the largest running event in the retail industry, with more than 30,000 participants since its launch in 2017 through last year. Since 2022, the event has expanded in scale through collaboration with Songpa District, establishing itself as the representative running event in the Jamsil area.
Starting this year, Style Run will go beyond being a short-term running event and expand its scope as a 'premium running culture platform.' Reflecting the trend of running becoming a daily sport enjoyed across all generations, the event will scale up with running content that allows participants to learn about running and experience its culture.
In line with this, Style Run is undergoing rebranding this year to become a platform that proposes 'the daily lives of stylish runners.' First, through a collaboration with the global K-fashion brand 'Martine Kim,' the event will introduce projects such as the development of a 'collaboration running kit.' The running kit will move beyond a purely functional composition, featuring a special design that combines the style of the Martine Kim brand with the energetic spirit of Style Run. The kit provided to participants will include a ball cap, a functional T-shirt, and a towel, all co-designed by Lotte Department Store and Martine Kim.
The event, scheduled for October 19, will begin recruiting participants through the Lotte Department Store online mall starting on the 20th. This year, the number of participants will be increased to 6,000, about 20% more than last year's 5,000. On the day of the event, 5km and 10km running courses will be set up, starting from Lotte World Mall and running through the Jamsil area.
Before the main event, initiatives such as the 'Style Run Crew' and 'Style Run Ambassador' will be launched to build excitement. Starting from the 25th, Style Run Crew members interested in running will be recruited to run major courses in and around Jamsil while wearing the Martine Kim collaboration kit. In addition, a separate four-week completion class will be offered, led by Coach Jung Heejun, a former national track and field athlete. Furthermore, seven well-known running influencers, including Kang Junkyu, Park Jihyun, and Son Hyuk, will serve as promotional ambassadors for Style Run from mid-August.
The event will also diversify its ongoing content. In the second half of this year, Lotte Department Store will launch the 'Style Run Club' through its app. Members who join the run club will receive the latest running-related news, such as the opening of running stores and new product launches, as well as exclusive club member benefits, including discounts. After the Style Run event concludes, various 'Style Run Signature Courses' will be created around the Jamsil branch, including style photo spots, group runs for running crews, and training courses.
Jang Hyebin, Head of the Signature Events Team at Lotte Department Store, stated, "With this rebranding, Style Run will go beyond being a one-time event to serve as a platform connecting runners, culture, and experiences," adding, "Through Style Run, we aim to develop Jamsil into a 'running mecca.'"
