Governor Myeong Highlights Turning Point for Haenam’s Future
Key Local Issues Reflected in New National Agenda
Core Strategies Aligned with AI and Energy Expressway Initiatives
Myeong Hyungwan, Haenam County Governor, stated that the inclusion of numerous key issues facing Haenam County in the new government's five-year national administration plan would serve as a "significant turning point for the region's future development."
During a regular monthly staff meeting held at Haenam County Office on the morning of the 18th, Governor Myeong said, "The national agenda items such as the establishment of an AI·energy expressway, an energy transition based on renewable energy, the revitalization of rural and fishing communities, and balanced growth through local autonomy and decentralization, are all closely aligned with the strategies Haenam County has been focusing on." He called for a thorough review of the detailed action plans and requested that response strategies be formulated accordingly.
He particularly emphasized the importance of the "regional pledge management system," which will be led by the Local Era Committee, urging staff to monitor local issues to ensure they are reflected in the national agenda and to respond proactively.
Through this five-year national administration plan, the government aims to identify a total of 1,260 "Our Neighborhood Pledges" across 226 local governments nationwide and to focus on implementing infrastructure projects that directly impact residents' daily lives.
Accordingly, Haenam County is accelerating its response to related issues. The county will hold consecutive press conferences and policy forums on August 21 and 22, intensifying efforts to align regional agendas with government policies.
On the 21st, a joint press conference will be held to announce positions on the national agenda of "Restoring the Natural State of the Four Major Rivers and Reviving Biodiversity," and to officially propose to the government the prompt implementation of restoration projects for the Yeongsan River and Geum River estuaries. Participants will include Governor Myeong, Park Junghyun (Buyeo County Governor), Lee Hakyoung (National Assembly Vice Speaker), and lawmakers Park Jie-won, Lee Gaeho, Shin Jeonghoon, Park Soo-hyun, and Hwang Myungseon.
On the 22nd, a policy forum titled "Solaseado AI Energy New Town and RE100 Industrial Complex Development" will be held at the main conference hall of the Korea Federation of SMEs in Seoul. Under the theme "The Future of Green Smart New Towns Where AI and RE100 Innovation Meet," about 100 participants from the National Assembly, government ministries, public institutions, energy companies, and academia will gather to discuss strategies for achieving RE100 transition and carbon neutrality.
Governor Myeong said, "Our efforts to prepare a future vision for the region have resulted in its reflection in government policy," adding, "The coming months will be crucial in determining Haenam's long-term growth, so I ask all public officials to carry out their duties with a strong sense of responsibility."
