Aiming to Enhance Corporate Recognition and Brand Value through Citizen Participation

Citizens will name a local company in Busan.

The city of Busan will select a new name for its flagship corporate brand, the 'Busan-Style Local Enterprise,' through a public contest open to citizens.

On August 18, the city announced that it will hold a public contest under the theme "Finding a New Name Befitting the Status of Busan's Leading Local Enterprises" from August 18 to September 1. The purpose of this contest is to update the symbolic identity of the certified 'Busan-Style Local Enterprises'-companies recognized for over 30 years of operation and their contributions to employment and sales-to better reflect the current era.

'Busan-Style Local Enterprise' certification is granted to companies that have their headquarters in Busan and meet the following criteria: at least 30 years in business, more than 100 full-time employees, an average annual sales revenue of at least 20 billion KRW over the past three years, and contributions to local job creation and economic revitalization. Currently, 68 companies hold this certification, with 5 newly certified and 16 re-certified companies added this year.

The city plans to select the final three names after an initial internal review and a second round of preference surveys among company employees, with the announcement scheduled for September 15. The chosen name will become the official designation, and September 15 will be commemorated annually as 'Busan-Style Entrepreneur Day.'

Additionally, from August 25 to 29, the city will host the '2025 Busan Local Enterprise Certification Promotion Exhibition' in the promotional area of the Busan City Hall subway connection corridor to encourage citizen participation.

Kim Bongcheol, Director of Digital Economy at Busan City, emphasized, "This meaningful contest will allow citizens to directly name the local enterprises that are the backbone and pride of Busan's economy. We expect that citizen participation will help enhance corporate recognition and brand value."
