On Monday, the 18th, the heatwave is expected to persist nationwide, with rain forecast for the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon region. Showers are also expected in Jeollanam-do and Jeju Island.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 17th, rain is expected to fall mainly in the Seoul metropolitan area and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon. The expected precipitation is 10 to 60 millimeters (with some areas receiving more than 80 millimeters) in Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, the five West Sea islands, and central and northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon. Seoul and southern Gyeonggi are expected to receive 5 to 40 millimeters. Rain will continue until late afternoon in northern Gyeonggi and central and northern inland Gangwon.
In Chungcheongnam-do, light rain is possible in the morning, while Jeollanam-do and Jeju Island are expected to see showers of 5 to 40 millimeters in the afternoon.
In areas where it rains, there may be gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning. In particular, northeastern Gyeonggi and northern inland Gangwon may experience heavy rainfall of around 20 millimeters per hour.
The minimum morning temperatures in major cities are as follows: Seoul 26 degrees Celsius, Incheon 25 degrees, Chuncheon 24 degrees, Gangneung 26 degrees, Daejeon 24 degrees, Jeonju 25 degrees, Gwangju 24 degrees, Daegu 24 degrees, Busan 26 degrees, and Jeju 26 degrees.
The maximum daytime temperatures are: Seoul 31 degrees Celsius, Incheon 29 degrees, Chuncheon 30 degrees, Gangneung 34 degrees, Daejeon 32 degrees, Jeonju 33 degrees, Gwangju 33 degrees, Daegu 33 degrees, Busan 32 degrees, and Jeju 32 degrees.
Fine dust levels are expected to be "good" in all regions.
