On August 16 and 17, SK Telecom set up an 'SKT AI Playground' booth at the 17th Presidential Amateur e-Sports Tournament held in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province. The company offered various programs for visitors, including the 'AI Robot Ping Pong Challenge' and activities where participants could learn about AI machine learning processes by assembling simple robots.
The AI Robot Ping Pong Challenge is a game in which an AI coding robot that moves autonomously competes against a robot controlled by a participant. The winner is determined by which side manages to send more balls to the opponent's area within two minutes.
Participants can directly observe how the AI robot recognizes and throws the ball, allowing them to experience AI technology firsthand. They also have the opportunity to win various prizes.
In addition, SK Telecom organized an AI robot programming class for elementary, middle, and high school students visiting the event. Through simple robot assembly, students could learn about AI machine learning. Using the 'LEGO Spike Prime' kit, students programmed robots with block-based commands and operated them based on machine learning principles, gaining hands-on experience in AI programming.
Ha Yunseong, a third-grade student at Ganae Elementary School in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, who participated in the AI robot programming class, said, "It was fascinating to see the AI determine between rock and paper and then move accordingly. I want to build an even bigger AI robot myself in the future."
