Descendants of Independence Activists Invited
A Meaningful Commemoration Event

The Busan Regional Veterans Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director: Lee Namil) held a ceremonial first pitch and first bat event for the descendants of independence activists at Sajik Baseball Stadium on the afternoon of August 15, in collaboration with the Lotte Giants.

This event, organized in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation, was designed to express gratitude and respect for the noble sacrifices of those who dedicated themselves to the independence of the nation and the country.

The ceremonial first pitch was delivered by Ahn Kyungha, the grandson of Ahn Heeje, who established the Baeksan Sanghoe and provided financial support for the independence movement. The ceremonial first bat was performed by Baek Kihwan, the grandson of Baek Nakju, who raised military funds and led independence activities in organizations such as the Korean Independence Corps and Hyeolseongdae. Both delivered powerful performances symbolizing the significance of Liberation.
