With heat wave advisories issued across the country, the hot weather is expected to continue on Sunday, August 17.
The morning low temperatures are forecast to range from 21 to 26 degrees Celsius, while the daytime highs are expected to reach between 29 and 35 degrees Celsius.
In most regions nationwide, the maximum perceived temperature will rise to around 33 degrees Celsius (and around 35 degrees Celsius in southern areas), resulting in very hot conditions. Tropical nights are also expected to occur, particularly in urban areas and along the coasts.
The central region will see partly cloudy skies at times, while the southern regions and Jeju Island are expected to be mostly clear.
Between the morning and afternoon, 5 to 40 millimeters of rain is expected in Incheon, northern Gyeonggi Province, and the central and northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province. The five West Sea islands are forecast to receive 5 to 20 millimeters of rain.
In areas where rain is expected, there may be gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning. The Korea Meteorological Administration has advised people to pay attention to facility management and safety precautions to prevent accidents.
Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at 'good' to 'moderate' levels nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.
Wave heights in the East Sea and West Sea coastal waters are expected to range from 0.5 to 1.0 meters, and 0.5 meters in the South Sea coastal waters.
In the offshore areas (up to about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are predicted to be between 0.5 and 1.5 meters in the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea.
