Police Dispatched After 112 Call
Classified as Family Protection Case as No Charges Were Sought
It was belatedly revealed that police were dispatched after receiving a report that a well-known supporting actor in his 40s had assaulted his wife at their home.
According to Yonhap News on August 14, police were dispatched to the home of actor A, who is in his 40s, in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, after receiving a 112 emergency call on July 24 reporting that he had assaulted his wife.
It was reported that A and his wife, B, had a verbal argument, after which A tried to leave the house. When B attempted to stop him, a physical altercation ensued. Police attempted to investigate A on charges of assault, but since B did not wish to pursue charges, the case was classified as a family protection case rather than a criminal case.
A police official told the media, "It is true that we responded to a report of domestic violence," but added, "Since this is a family protection case, we cannot disclose specific details." Meanwhile, A is an actor who has appeared in various films and dramas, and is known to have played a supporting role in a famous Korean movie that attracted 10 million viewers.
