- Over 1 Million Monthly Users on Makebot Platform, Surpassing 2 Million with Major Clients in Healthcare, Aviation, and Commerce
- HybridRAG Technology Presented at World-Renowned AI Conference SIGIR 2025, Earning Global Recognition for Technological Excellence
Makebot, an AI chatbot specialist led by CEO Kim Jiwoong, announced that it has surpassed 2 million monthly users, establishing itself as the largest chatbot platform in South Korea.
According to Makebot, its proprietary chatbot development platform, “Makebot BotBuilder,” alone attracts nearly 1 million monthly visitors. When combined with the chatbot users of major clients such as Korean Air, CJ OnStyle, Gongyoung Home Shopping, Gangnam Severance Hospital, and Tmoney, the total monthly user count exceeds 2 million.
HybridRAG Technology Unveiled at Global AI Conference, Demonstrating R&D Capabilities
Makebot’s technological competitiveness was recently recognized on the global stage at “SIGIR 2025,” the world’s most prestigious AI academic conference, where it presented its innovative “HybridRAG” framework that combines LLM and RAG technologies. The company achieved a 26.6% improvement in accuracy and a 6.2% increase in response speed compared to conventional RAG technologies.
Makebot’s in-house R&D team has independently developed RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology and hallucination removal solutions, achieving technological differentiation in the generative AI sector. Based on these advancements, Makebot launched “BotGrade,” a generative AI-based chatbot upgrade solution that has dramatically improved the reliability of generative AI in the civil complaint sector.
Building a Chatbot Commerce Platform Worth KRW 100 Billion Annually
Makebot’s differentiated achievements are particularly prominent in the commerce sector. The KakaoTalk-based order chatbots operated by CJ OnStyle and Gongyoung Home Shopping generate daily transaction volumes exceeding several hundred million KRW, growing into a chatbot commerce platform with an annual scale of over KRW 100 billion.
CJ OnStyle has implemented a PC-level ordering environment on KakaoTalk, enabling real-time shopping linked to live TV broadcasts. The platform has also received strong positive feedback for its cross-border e-commerce features, such as overseas customs code registration.
Expanding Across Industries with Specialized Solutions
In the healthcare sector, major medical institutions such as Gangnam Severance Hospital, Soonchunhyang University Hospital, and Seoul National University Hospital, along with hundreds of clinics and leading dermatology practices, have adopted Makebot’s solutions, resulting in over 100,000 monthly users. Makebot’s healthcare-specialized solution, “MakebotH,” is evolving beyond traditional reservation services to encompass administrative automation, AI portals for hospital staff, and AI for medical consultations, all powered by LLM and RAG technologies.
In the aviation sector, Korean Air became the industry’s first to introduce a multi-platform customer service chatbot spanning KakaoTalk, web, and mobile app, providing 24/7 global customer support in Korean, English, and Japanese.
In the public sector, dozens of local governments including Cheongju, Bucheon, and Jeongeup, as well as organizations like the Korea Tourism Organization, Korea Real Estate Board, and Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation, are delivering 24/7 civil complaint response services, driving innovation in public service delivery.
Establishing the Largest Platform Through Partnership with Kakao, Securing Data-Driven AI Competitiveness
The explosive growth in Makebot’s user base can be attributed to its early partnership with Kakao, which enabled it to become the largest platform. With over 90% of the Korean population using KakaoTalk, users can access chatbot services without installing separate apps, resulting in KakaoTalk-based chatbot usage rates that are more than five times higher than those of web or mobile channels.
Having grown into the most widely used chatbot platform in South Korea, Makebot has accumulated the largest volume of conversational data and user behavior patterns, securing a crucial competitive advantage for AI technology development and the advancement of generative AI performance.
Recently, Makebot was selected as a supplier for the NIA (National Information Society Agency) “Hyper-scale AI Platform Utilization Support Project” and successfully completed global programs with Microsoft Korea and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Kim Jiwoong, CEO of Makebot, stated, “Surpassing 2 million monthly users is the result of our accumulated industry-specific expertise and generative AI innovations driven by our in-house R&D. Our competitive edge in generative AI technology comes from ideas and data generated at diverse client touchpoints, as well as our ability to rapidly customize solutions.”
Meanwhile, Makebot has continued to secure technological leadership in the AI chatbot sector by filing dozens of patents through ongoing technology development. Notably, at “SIGIR 2025,” the world’s most prestigious AI conference in the field of information retrieval, held recently in Padova, Italy, Makebot presented its innovative “HybridRAG” framework that combines LLM and RAG technologies, earning global recognition for its technological prowess.
