Securing a Special Grant of 500 Million Won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
Facility Upgrades Planned for Osan Jungang and Kkumbitnarae Youth Centers
On August 14, the city of Osan in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has secured a special grant of 500 million won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for facility improvement projects at two local youth centers: Osan Jungang Youth Center and Kkumbitnarae Youth Center.
Since its opening in 2013, the Osan Jungang Youth Center has not undergone any facility upgrades. The Kkumbitnarae Youth Center has also been using the former Sinjang-dong Community Service Center building, constructed in 1993, which has led to inconveniences for users and safety concerns due to aging infrastructure.
The city especially plans to renovate the outdated facilities in these areas, which are home to around 20,000 youths, and to incorporate interior designs that reflect the needs of young people.
Lee Gwonjae, Mayor of Osan, stated, "We will continue to make every effort to secure national and provincial funding to create a city where children and youth can learn and enjoy a high quality of life."
