American author Stephen King (78) has described President Donald Trump as a horror story in himself and argued for the necessity of impeachment.
On August 13 (local time), during a Q&A session with readers for the UK outlet The Guardian, King made these remarks in response to a question from a reader who asked, "If you had to write the ending of the Trump era in America, how would you write it?"
He said that, in his view, the best possible ending would be "impeachment," adding, "I would just say that I want to see him retire."
He continued, "A bad ending would be if he wins a third term and takes complete control of everything," and added, "Either way, it's a horror story. Isn't Trump a horror story himself?"
King has long been a critic of President Trump. After Trump won the last presidential election, King expressed disappointment and shock, and once described Trump's first administration as "scarier" than any of his own bestselling novels.
During the Q&A with Guardian readers, when asked, "What kind of part-time job would help inspire an aspiring writer?" King advised choosing physically demanding jobs over comfortable ones.
He shared his own experience of working in a factory and encountering large rats in the basement, saying, "I wrote a story based on that experience, and that was when I really got on track as a writer."
King said that so-called "blue-collar" manual labor provides valuable experiences for writers, and added, "I don't recommend jobs that are clean, brightly lit, and require no cleanup afterward."
He also revealed that while he mostly uses Microsoft Word when writing new works, he occasionally writes by hand and then transfers it to his PC. He added, "I'm not very tech-savvy, so when I have a problem, I call my IT person."
Debuting in 1974 with the novel "Carrie," King has won the hearts of readers worldwide through popular genre novels such as "The Shining," "Misery," and "The Green Mile." His short story collection "Do You Like It Darker," published last year in the United States, was recently translated and released domestically as well.
