Ordinance on Job Creation Support Amended
Foundation Established for Employment Incentives in Undesirable Sectors
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province is expanding the scope of support for companies' employment and workers' job placement in order to create more jobs.
According to a statement on August 14, Siheung City announced the promulgation of a revised ordinance titled "Ordinance on Job Creation Support in Siheung City," which was amended to respond to the changing employment environment, address the severe labor shortages faced by businesses, and support the stable livelihoods of workers.
This amendment was prompted by the judgment that the existing ordinance was insufficient to effectively address chronic labor shortages experienced by businesses due to the avoidance of manufacturing jobs and the aging population.
The core of the revised ordinance is the expansion of support recipients from small business owners to all types of companies, as well as the establishment of institutional grounds for various support policies aimed at encouraging long-term service by employees and stabilizing employment.
The newly established support items under the amendment include: ▲ Internship and employment incentive grants for small business owners and others ▲ Support for improving the working environment to enhance employee welfare ▲ Employment incentives for jobs that are avoided or suffer from labor shortages ▲ Employment retention incentives to encourage long-term service and asset building for workers ▲ Incentives for substitute personnel during parental and maternity leave ▲ Support for transportation, housing, and education expenses for local employees.
With this amendment, the city expects to expand the scope of its "Siheung-Style Job Bank System" and to strengthen the foundation for regionally specialized job projects such as "Youth Engineer Employment and Settlement Support."
Jung Hogi, Director of Economic Affairs for Siheung City, stated, "With this ordinance amendment, we can now provide comprehensive job support that covers various groups and industries," adding, "We will continue to implement effective policies that reflect the voices of the local industrial sector."
