The Air Force has attached a commemorative emblem to the T-50B aircraft of its special flight team, the Black Eagles, to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation.

On August 14, the Air Force announced that the 53rd Special Air Demonstration Group, which operates the Black Eagles, had completed the process of attaching the 80th Liberation Anniversary emblem to the vertical tail fins of all 11 T-50B aircraft by August 12. The Black Eagles are the Air Force's representative special flight team, promoting the excellence of domestically produced aircraft to the world.

The 80th Liberation Anniversary emblem consists of the number '80' and the logotype 'Gwangbok 80', and was created based on the 'Gwangbok 80' logo developed by the 80th Liberation Anniversary Project Committee. The number '80', symbolizing the 80th anniversary of Liberation, incorporates both the shape of the Korean Peninsula and the Taegeuk symbol. Inspired by the colors of the national flag, the emblem harmoniously uses red and blue to respectively represent the passion and hope of the people, embodying the commemorative spirit of unity with the nation. Notably, the emblem is depicted with a diagonal line, symbolizing the Black Eagles soaring together with the people, and also representing the Air Force's strength and teamwork.

The Air Force plans to unveil the Black Eagles aircraft adorned with the commemorative emblem for the first time during the celebratory flight at the '80th Liberation Anniversary Cultural Event: Light of the Nation', which will be held on August 15 over the Independence Hall in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. The Air Force emphasized that the attachment of the emblem is not a one-time event; the emblem will remain on the aircraft and be flown at major events in the second half of the year, including the '2025 ADEX', to ensure that the significance of the 80th Liberation anniversary continues through November.
