On August 8, the district held a "wearable robot demonstration" at Jaunbong Hall in Dobong-gu Office, with four domestic robotics companies participating. The event was organized to compare and evaluate each company's products and to select which devices to purchase and introduce. Previously, the district also held a first demonstration in May.
During the event, environmental officials personally tested walking-assist robots and wearable robots designed to protect the lower back, evaluating their practicality and ease of use. These devices help reduce the strain on the lower body and prevent back injuries when lifting heavy objects or going up and down slopes.
However, Dobong-gu explained that it is difficult to implement a full-scale rollout immediately, as each device costs several million won. The district plans to introduce some of the equipment this year using approximately 16 million won secured through a supplementary budget, and will gradually expand the program as additional funding becomes available.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "Reducing the musculoskeletal burden on field workers is directly linked to safety," adding, "Through this demonstration, we will thoroughly assess the effectiveness of the devices and introduce them gradually within a reasonable scope."
