51 Billion KRW Invested,
Completion Targeted for 2026
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk is constructing a large-scale Agricultural Machinery Rental Center in the same region, reflecting the voices of those working in the agricultural sector. With a total project cost of 5.1 billion KRW, a modern rental center will be established in Jisan-dong, aiming to reduce farming costs for small and medium-sized farms and to address service imbalances in rural areas.
The city secured 680 million KRW for land acquisition in the first supplementary budget for 2025, with the project site covering 3,147 square meters. The detailed design is scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year, with construction set to begin next year and completion targeted for 2026.
Currently, Gumi City operates agricultural machinery rental centers in only two locations: Seonsan-eup and Sandong in Gumi. As a result, farmers in the same region have faced inconvenience due to long travel distances. The new center will be located in Jisan-dong, the central area of the region, offering excellent accessibility. It is expected that approximately 2,000 farms, including those in the nearby Goa-eup area, will benefit directly from the new facility.
The new facility will be equipped with modern amenities, including a large agricultural machinery storage warehouse, a maintenance shop, and office space. An integrated system will be established to efficiently manage rental, maintenance, and storage operations, which is expected to improve both the utilization rate and management efficiency of agricultural machinery.
After completion, Gumi City plans to continue enhancing services in response to increasing demand for agricultural machinery by replacing outdated equipment, introducing smart agricultural machinery, and expanding the range of rental equipment.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi City, stated, "This project will bring tangible changes that farmers can truly feel," and emphasized, "We will continue to enhance the quality of agricultural machinery rental services through field-oriented administration."
